Audrey Poitras

Audrey Poitras has made a lasting impact on the Metis Nation and beyond. As the first female President of the Metis Nation of Alberta, she led with vision and integrity for nearly three decades. Audrey was instrumental in negotiating education and training partnerships, founding the Rupertsland Institute, and signing historic agreements that advanced Metis rights in Alberta. Her influence has been recognized nationally and internationally, and she remains one of the most prominent Indigenous leaders in Canada. Her leadership has changed lives, shaped policy, and inspired generations.

Aimee Alger

Aimee Alger is a cornerstone of the drama department at Cold Lake Junior High. Her passion for the arts is matched only by her dedication to her students. She instills confidence, fosters inclusion, and goes above and beyond to ensure every student feels valued and inspired. Her impact ripples through the community—her students speak of how she encourages them to embrace their true selves, boosting their self-esteem and inspiring others in return. Beyond the classroom, Aimee is an active performer herself, bringing that same passion to the stage. Through both her teaching and her artistry, she uplifts our community and champions kindness, creativity, and belonging.

Jessie Heisler

Jessie Heisler is a tireless advocate for creating a safer and more respectful community. As the Prevention and Community Engagement Manager at the Dragonfly Centre, she leads initiatives that confront harmful social norms and promote consent culture, especially among youth. From launching region-wide education campaigns to developing rural-focused training workshops, Jessie creates lasting change by empowering others with knowledge and compassion. Even while pursuing a master’s in public health, she remains deeply connected to community work, including projects with the John Howard Society.

Her work goes beyond physical training—Andrea nurtures her athletes’ emotional well-being, instills life skills, and promotes healthy lifestyles through nutrition and wellness education. Her leadership has led several wrestlers to championship success, and her influence continues to grow on and off the mat.

A pillar at local farmers markets and craft sales, Heather continues to pour her energy into community life. She’s also the proud mother of two past Women of Influence—proof that strong women raise strong women.
